He surprisingly breaks out of his stone shell due to a particular chemical that kept dripping on him for years together. He and his friend later go on to rebuild civilization using his extreme smartness and love for science.

The entire anime is informative and has a decent amount of suspense factor. An average student can score really well in science by just watching Dr.Stone. Surely a must watch/read for all the shounen lovers. Not too childish and not too mature. The animations are decent but the plot and storyline is extremely good with amazing characters.
